1922 By 1922 there were 33 streets in Auckland that were paved in either asphalt, wood blocks, or concrete.
1928
The St James Theatre, designed by Harry White, was completed in 1928. It was first known as the New Opera House. It was designed for touring Vaudeville acts but was wired for sound in 1929 and showed it's first film on boxing day that year.
1929 The Civic theatre was designed and built in 8 months
The Smith and Caughey building on the corner of Wellesley and Elliot Street was completed, designed by Roy Lippincott, an american architect.
